About OKILAB

Founded on radical curiosity — we research, collaborate, and experiment at the edges of textile design.

Our Story

Founded on the belief that textiles can change the world.

“The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.”

— Chinese Proverb

OKILAB was established in Sweden with a singular mission: to explore the untapped potential of textile design through research, collaboration, and experimentation.

We work globally with textile makers, craftspeople, and innovators — both traditional and contemporary — wherever techniques and processes exist. We believe that learning can be applied across different contexts and cultures.

Philosophy

How we think about textile research.

01

Curiosity Over Convention

We resist the expected. Every project begins with an honest question rather than a predetermined answer.

02

Process as Product

Research is never merely a means to an end. The way we work — slowly, collaboratively, openly — is as valuable as what we produce.

03

Responsibility to Materials

Every fiber, dye, and technique carries ecological and cultural weight. We take that seriously at every stage.

“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort.”

— John Ruskin

Let's Collaborate

We work with brands, institutions, and independent makers who share a commitment to meaningful textile research.
